very comfortable bed. Excellent food. Attentive staff, keen to help. Stairs in unexpected places including the actual bedroom. Not a concrete box with identical rooms.
Billing computer couldn't cope with complex splitting of bill amongst multiple rooms and guests. Maybe better with calculator and pencil, rather than computerise everything!

The rooms are spotless and compact with a king sized bed, so that guests have essentials. Furthermore, guests can use parking on-site. As for me location is handy, short walk to public areas, centre of Birmingham, restaurants. ...

Character period property and its location.
Noisey and room was cold and damp. Needs updating.

Hot breakfast at reduced rate for the start of the day. Relaxing and intimate hotel in Birmingham, magnificent location minutes away from an independent cinema.

Location, location.
Bathroom: 1) Toilet flusher stuck - I fixed it. 2) Shoer temp - hard to control,3) Ugly toilet seat. Sorry but I'm a spoiled American who used to Vegas hotels.

Well kept clean rooms each with individuality (I have stayed at the Du Vin before both in Birmingham and elsewhere). Excellent spa.

Central location and good value for money. Comfortable and stylish surroundings. Heard that the beds were comfortable.
Surly reception staff to my travelling companion but they were ok with me.

Room: small, cramped, uncomfortable; dreary, difficult to access shower in bath. Lack of parking; long queue at checkout; long wait for car to be brought back to us

Room was elegantly furnished
Pub closed on a Sunday evening - only champagne bar open. Staff seem falsely pleasant. Kept waiting at reception for 20 minutes for check in.

The staff did sort out the problems. Good breakfast. Free wifi with good broadband
Tired room. Out of date guides (wrong phone numbers, wrong info about wifi). Cupboard door did not close properly (fixed). Dripping hot tap (fixed). No tv remote control (provided on request). Tv not tuned in properly (fixed). Poor tv quality and limited channels. Very expensive minibar.

Rooms, bar and hotel itself was beautiful. Beds that we had were comfy. Bistro food was good on second visit.
Staff seemed poorly trained in all areas. reception, bar and in bistro on the first night but not on our last night - sommelier was great. We booked in July 2012 2roms both with twin beds and when we arrived we were given a room with a double bed in it. We had also just received an email confirming our booking so clearly the second twin bedded room was given away before we got there. Not impressed considering how long ago we booked and the fact that we have come from overseas. Reception did take 50 off the bill for. Each night but only once we asked and complained!
